“For me personally,” said Sara Bachman-Rhodes, director of The Studio and owner of Happy 2 Move. “It’s one of my goals in what I do.”
Early morning light streamed through the windows, lighting up the mirrors lining the wall to reflect the dance floor.
“I see in all kinds of art and sports genres it’s like I haven’t trained for six to ten years, I’m not allowed to participate,” Bachman-Rhodes said. “I just want our lives to be richer and fuller and for us to develop these confidences to come and do whatever makes your heart happy so that you come out into the world and be happy there as well.”
The Studio is a dance studio located in downtown Ellensburg, which collaborates with the Ellensburg Dance Ensemble to offer lessons for everyone from the age of two. Bachman-Rhodes encourages anyone interested to register, regardless of their past experience. The Studio works specifically to provide classes at all levels whether someone is looking for a recreational activity or a more advanced practice.
“We are really working under the auspices of bringing dancing to everyone in Ellensburg,” Bachman-Rhodes said. “We hope to expand our ballet program for advanced dancers, but we also hope to provide a more recreational version so that everyone has a place to dance. “
Bachman-Rhodes invites students to participate in the classes, even offering a discount on the regular prices.
“We would certainly like to have more [college students] and to make that connection with Central and the students there. Bachman-Rhodes said: “People are welcome and we often offer a discount for Central students.”
The Studio teaches ballet, jazz, tap dance, contemporary, hip hop, modern and creative movement. They will offer, among other things, musical theater and theater workshops during the summer.
Anyone interested in contacting the studio is free to contact them through their website, email, or by visiting the studio.
As a relatively new venture, The Studio has managed to keep its doors open to in-person classes so far without any vaccine requirements at this time.
“We are looking at the fall but we have not made any decisions,” Bachman-Rhodes said.
Outside of the classes offered, Bachman-Rhodes also says they often rent studio space to people looking for a practice room. In the future, she sees opportunities for the space to be rented out for larger events such as dances.
“So far we have individuals. I anticipate there will be a lot of opportunities for people to rent the space for a variety of things – gatherings, events, dances, rehearsals, ”Bachman-Rhodes said. “We hope to be a favorite place for everyone in the community. “
The studio hopes to perform at the Kittitas County Fair with annual productions and a recital in 2022. According to Bachman-Rhodes, the children’s dance group Happy 2 Move was able to do an outdoor recital on the weekend. latest.
