Brand new movements are coming to town.

The Parkland Arthur Murray Dance Studio is hosting a big opening celebration on Friday, October 1, with the doors opening at 7:30 p.m. at 7631 N. State Rd. 7, at the Waterways Shoppes in Parkland.

Participants will be treated to an evening of dancing, professional dance performances, champagne and hors d’oeuvres and other events. The dress code is cocktail attire with a royal blue, soft blue or white color code, organizers said.

“We are excited to present our studio to the world,” said Jailene Gaviria, dance teacher and event coordinator for the studio.

For locals who want to learn about dance lessons, Gaviria said the studio has options that suit all needs, ages, interests and skill levels, including beginners with no experience.

The studio teaches foxtrotting, waltz, rumba, salsa, merengue, bachata, swing and wedding dances. Arthur Murray’s students are often the ones getting ready for an event like a cruise or vacation; others may be looking to learn new skills or just socialize.

Singles and couples are welcome, studio staff said, with private lessons and gift certificates available.

Gaviria said the studio’s professional instructors have been dancing for 10 years or more; some have played on television and even boast of a competitive experience.

“We are totally welcoming and respond to everyone,” Gaviria said.

Arthur Murray Dance Studios, which started in 1912, currently has more than 260 locations in 21 countries around the world, according to the studio. Its staff like to say that people can “call now, dance tonight” as sample same-day classes are available to the public.
